Activity Preparation:

• Print a bulletin for each child
• Gather enough crayons or colored pencils and scissors for everyone

Activity Directions:

1. Give each child a bulletin, crayons or colored pencils and a pair of scissors.
2. Explain the activity, "Today, we're going to hear a story about Passover. While I read our Scripture lesson, solve and color your puzzle 'God told the Israelites to have a meal of lamb.' Be sure to color the matching sheep the same color. Then, cut out your sheep."
3. Read aloud Exodus 12:1-14 while the children work on their puzzles and craft.
4. When the children have cut out all their sheep, gather them, and spread them out, facedown, on the table.
5. Playing all together, turn over two sheep. If they do not match, turn them facedown again, and turn over two more sheep. Continue until you can turn over two sheep that match.
6. Continue playing until the children have matched all the sheep.

Children's church bulletin about Passover for ages 7-12: What happened next?

Activity Preparation:

• Print a bulletin for each child
• Purchase some Jewish matzah crackers
• Purchase some wheat or barley berries (usually in the baking or cereal aisle). On a flat pan in a 350º oven, roast the berries in a single layer until fragrant
• Research the agriculture of early Canaan to engage students in a discussion about it
• Gather napkins and pencils

Activity Directions:

1. Give each child a bulletin and pencil.
2. Explain the activity, "Today, we'll taste what the Israelites ate after they entered the land of Canaan. Let's start by reading our Scripture lesson."
3. Read aloud or have the children read aloud Joshua 5:9-12.
4. Afterward, have the children complete the "What happened next?" puzzle.
5. Give each child a piece of matzah and some roasted grain berries to taste.
6. Engage the children in a conversation about the foods grown in Canaan at the time of the Exodus. Ask the children if they know what unleavened bread is or if they can identify which roasted grain they sampled.
