Engaging and inspiring bulletins encourage children at church and at home
Give children a church bulletin that engages them at church and inspires them during the week after they've taken it home. Children's Worship Bulletins are packed with fun activities to help them learn important Scripture.
What they don't finish on Sunday, they'll work on throughout the week because the word searches, puzzles, dot-to-dots and other activities in them are fun and engaging.
Customizable bulletins draw children back to your church
Give children a church bulletin that clearly identifies your church, encouraging them to return. Each Children's Worship Bulletin is customizable so you can include your church name and address, your youth pastor's name and even your church logo!
Educational bulletins make it easy to create entire lessons
Children's Worship Bulletins are designed by professionals who use proven educational methods to teach basic Scripture knowledge, not doctrine. It's easy to create an entire lesson plan from a single bulletin.
In this short article, we show you how to create two classroom activities by using our children's church bulletins about Pentecost.
Children's church bulletin about Pentecost for ages 3-6: Peter told the people ...
Activity Preparation:
- Print a bulletin for each child
- Print the memory cards sheet and cut out each card
- Gather enough pencils for everyone
- Have a white board and dry erase marker or blackboard and chalk. Write, "Everyone who calls on the name of the name of the Lord will be saved. — Acts 2:21" on the board
Activity Directions:
- Give each child a bulletin and pencil.
- Explain the activity, "Today, we're going to hear a story about Pentecost. Then, we'll play a game that will help us memorize a verse from our Scripture lesson."
- Instruct the children to solve the puzzle, "Peter told the people …" while you read aloud Acts 2:1-21.
- Explain the game, "I'm going to give one of you a card onto which is printed part of our memory verse. As we say the verse together, the person with the card will jump up when we get to the part of the verse that's printed on his or her card. Then, I'll give out another card. We'll say the verse again, but this time, two of you will get to jump up when we get to the part of the verse that's printed on your card. We'll take turns so that everyone has a chance to have a card and to jump up when we recite the part of the verse that's on your card."
- Select a volunteer to go first and hand them a card. (Cards do not have to be handed out in order.) Lead the children in reciting the verse and reference. If needed, help the child with the card know when to jump up.
- Continue, handing out a new card until all 12 cards have been handed out, reciting the verse together each time. If necessary, redistribute the cards so that everyone has the opportunity to jump up.
- After everyone has had a chance to have a card and jump up, put all the cards away and see if the class can recite the verse and reference from memory.
Children's church bulletin about Pentecost for ages 7-12: God will show many wonders ...
Activity Preparation:
- Print a bulletin and a sheet of memory cards for each child
- Gather enough pencils and scissors for everyone
Activity Directions:
- Give each child a bulletin, a sheet of memory cards, a pencil and a pair of scissors.
- Explain the activity, "Today, we're going to hear a story about Pentecost. Then, we'll make a set of memory cards that will help us memorize a verse from our Scripture lesson."
- Instruct the children to solve the puzzle "God will show many wonders …" while you read aloud Acts 2:1-21.
- Have the children cut out the 12 memory cards.
- Explain how to memorize the verse, "Here's how we'll memorize our verse. First, let's say the verse and its reference together." Lead the children in reciting Acts 2:21, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. — Acts 2:21"
- Continue, "Now, let's put our memory cards in order in front of us. First, find the card 'Everyone.'" Have the children hold up the card that says "Everyone" and then place it on the table in front of them to the left. Continue having the children find the cards, in order, and arranging them on the table in front of them.
- Continue, "Let's look at our cards and say the verse and its reference together." Lead the children in reciting Acts 2:21.
- Continue, "Now, let's turn all our cards facedown on the table in front of you and mix them up. After mixing them up, turn them over, one at a time, and see if you can put them in order."
- Allow the children to turn over their cards and put them in order on the table in front of them.
- Continue, "Great! Let's say the verse and its reference together." Lead the children in reciting Acts 2:21.
- Continue, "Now, turn the 'name' card facedown. Let's see if we can say the verse even though we can't see one of the words." Lead the children in reciting Acts 2:21.
- Continue turning cards facedown, one at a time, until all of the cards are facedown on the table. Each time, lead the children in reciting Acts 2:21.
- After all the cards have been turned facedown and the children have recited Acts 2:21 from memory, explain that they can use this method to memorize any Scripture reference.
